The Giulia Type 105 was produced by Italian car manufacturer Alfa Romeo from 1962 to 1978, a first for a manufacturer to put a powerful engine in a light-weight car for mainstream production. The Giulia weighed about 2,200 Lb. Equipped with a light alloy twin overhead camshaft four-cylinder engine, the engine capacity offered was 1.3 or 1.6-litre. Various configurations of carburetors and tuning produced power outputs from about 80 to about 110 Hp. Almost all Giulias made had a 5-speed manual transmission. Giulias had a top speed of 106 mph, 0 to 62 took about 12 seconds. This performance was better than many sports cars of the late 60th and early 70th.
I have worked in the design field for more than thirty years, and have recently embarked on a new career path as a fine art illustrator. Originally from Liege, Belgium, I grew up near Spa and the famous road course there, which fueled a love of cars and racing that has never waned. I realized my own dream of racing, building a car, and competing for several years in southern California, where I now reside.
