Description
The Porsche 908 was introduced in 1968 as a Group 6 Prototype-Sports Car. Power came from a new 3-litre Flat-8 air-cooled, 2 valves per cylinder engine producing 350 hp at 8400 rpm. Builded for endurance racing, the 908 started as a closed coupe but from 1969 on was converted to the 908-2, a lighter open spyder. An even more compact 908-3 was introduced in 1970 to complement the heavy Porsche 917 on twisty tracks like the Targa Florio and Nurburgring, tracks that favored more nimble cars.
